About Kiki

Kiki is unlike any fashion magazine on the market. Our readers are interested in products that help them develop their creativity, express their individuality, and grow into strong young women. Each issue covers a wide variety of topics organized into the following sections:

1. From the Studio: Items in this section relate to activities in the fashion studio: design, textiles, shoes, fashion fix-it (problems with clothes), design student interviews, designer profiles; editorial.

2. Art Bin: Items in this section relate to those areas where fine art overlaps fashion design and craft: illustration, crafts, color trends, art supplies.

3. World Beat: profiles of cities with strong design traditions, where clothes are made (country profiles), tag check (where garments in an outfit all come from), trends in foreign cultures, and cultural garments.

4. Biz Buzz: information related to managing money, shopping, investing. Profiles of publicly traded fashion companies and labels serve as vehicle for explaining investment; features on saving and spending wisely, shopping on a budget, etc.; profiles of successful business women in the fashion industry.

5. Taking Care: This section is on grooming rather than beauty. The purpose is to teach/show girls how to take care of their body and develop healthy hygiene habits. Features will show how to wash and fix hair, how to wash face, why rest is important, how to fix healthy snacks, why exercise is good for the body and spirit, and so on.

6. Your Style: This section contains a selection of elements related to the readers’ every-day life. Book reviews (fiction, nonfiction, art, all related to fashion, clothing, even if only tangentially), real-girl interview (similar to design student interview); “Fashion from the Inside Out” – a feature on how character is related to personal style; pages of reader provided content, both written and photo; pages to practice drawing, outline designs, and so on; section on “Finding Inspiration” – how things unrelated to clothing can be the inspiration for fashion and personal style;

7. Kiki Fun: Games and fun space for girls to play with the ideas from the magazine – from drawing to crossword to word search; product reviews of art tools, games, craft kits, and so on; design journal activities.

Feature articles: Each issue will have one or more feature articles related or not to the topic or theme of the magazine.

Kiki does not accept advertising that contains sexualized images, no matter how mild, nor advertising from companies who do not support the editorial mission of the magazine.
